The Eloquence of White pottery

The eloquence of a simple white pot. Traditional, contemporary, country or modern it can be used in so many design styles.
Designer Pam Pierce

Here it is used with an industrial table amidst a very natural setting.
Designer Vincente wolf

Designer Dan Marty, Have you seen his designs? Love his style.

Love the pots displayed against the green hutch.

Do you miss Maureen? We do!

One of our favorite images.
Designer Thad Hayes

In this Traditional setting the pots play a role at center stage.
Designer Suzanne Kasler

Love, love this...a little more rustic than the others, but still so interesting.
Sergreto finishes

The little details of a room makes it or breaks it. Think about how you display your treasures. Sometimes it helps to take a picture of what you have done. It gives you another way of viewing it. It is different than the eye because it narrows in on how a certain point of view will look.

A great collection of different patterns and styles yet unified by their color.
Country Living

These pots take your attention up and over the armoire to fill the space in an otherwise empty and maybe boring corner.

As artist/designers, when displaying items we always approach it as an art piece. We want the viewer to be entertained visually. When you add something new to your home do you ever think about that? What do I want the viewer to see and feel?  Is it balanced?  How am I entertaining the viewer?

  12. I like the more rustic pottery usually but am also drawn to interesting shapes no matter what the finish. Suzanne Kasler's collection is great as centerpiece.

  13. I think you've inspired me to start a collection. My favorites are the displays of similar shapes and sizes..... they create such interest...... not to mention I can imagine pulling them off the shelf and filling these beauties with lots of fresh bouquets of flowers!

  14. I especially like your closing comments, which steer us to the idea that we need to take the time to make considered decisions as we design and decorate a room. Often, it is not enough that we like something. The risk of filling a room with things you like is visual chaos. As you point out so clearly - we need to consider the impact of what we are doing on the space and the people in the space. What is the intent? Should we edit? The suggestion to take a picture is terrific! it is a very useful tool helping you focus on aspects such as composition, light, depth, etc.

    Fantastic post!

    Cheers,
    John

  16. I love white pottery. I have been looking for lidded confit style pots like those in the first image and in the green cupboard from Maureen's blog. (I miss her too.) Any idea where I can find some like those?

  17. Hi Julie & Danni!

These are so pretty; that first image is one of my favorites. Years ago, I found a set of cream pots at a junk shop that I didn't snatch up, & I have kicked myself for it ever since.

    Have a wonderful week!

  31. What fun to see the items from my shop featured here! The 18th c. green bibliotheque with the collection of white pottery is from Liz Spradling Antiques located in Houston, TX. Although the bibliotheque has sold , we still has an amazing collection of white pots as well as other white pottery. The shop's website is Lizspradling.com and some of the pots are listed on 1stdibs.com.
