Old Mission and Lisa Jackson

I took these photos of a mission in Santa Babara last weekend...

I was drawn to the beauty and simplicity of it....

Even though it was built in the seventeen hundreds, the design style felt relevant for today..

Designer, Lisa Jackson's style reminded me of the simplicity of the old missions...

The white plaster walls and natural raw doors were beautiful....

Simple forms can be interesting and make a statement!

Simple things can become art...

The feel of this room looks like it could be a modern version of one of Santa Barbara's missions.....
Simple, natural, lines...
It just needs the old tile pavers ...

  1. I loved visiting the Missions in California when I lived in San Diego.
They conveyed such a piece of religious history, peaceful, and a calming feeling throughout.

  7. This reminds me of that old quote.. something about simplicity carried to an extreme becoming elegance. These are very restful in their pure simplicity-- both the mission and Lisa Jackson's designs.

  11. Julie,
I am forever working towards that aesthetic...simple design is sometimes the most challenging to attain for some of us. :D I do love the calm that I feel when I'm in a room or home that has achieved such beauty.
