Coastal Living

I've been busy looking for art work and accessories for my clients coastal inspired home  ...I collected these images to inspire me during my search...

These styles from Blackband interiors have a contemporary feel...the coral pictures and sea grass rug add to the look...

Grass-cloth wallpaper is also used in Coastal Homes..

Brandon Architecture from orange county added coral pictures and coral in the bookcase...

I love the contemporary beach feel to these coral prints...

Barclay's Butera has a reputation for a beach style...stripes, blue and white pottery, shells and art work of the sea...which lean more toward the traditional feel.

(Barclay Butera)

Spicher and co

The pictures above have more of a traditional feel.

This is a fun look with the whale..notice the mix of the pattern rug with the stripe bedspread...the fun lamp shades complete the look.

These pictures could be so fun for a beach-y look.

You can add t
o the coastal look by incorporating natural looking pieces, like the rug and the driftwood chandeliers. The wood paneling also screams beach...and I love the striped lamp shade..

Notice the natural baskets in this display from William Sonoma...

It helps to have your back door open right on to the beach....

Have you noticed the glass lamp trends...

Love this stripe grass rug and the wicker chairs...

These next few pictures are from Rooms and Gardens in Santa Barbara...One of my favorite shops for a Coastal look...

Wainscoting...a client up-date

I wanted to update you on a clients home...
I've had so much fun working on this home....
Its very rewarding when clients love everything about the finished product....
Sometimes it can be a challenge to bring together the husband's taste and the wife's taste when they are on opposite scales of design...
The wife likes country farm....
She would love to take an old barn and turn it into a home...the rustic, the better...
The husband likes a refined feel...he likes traditional, french style...but they both love red, white and blue...

These are the before pictures of their living room.

They both agreed that they wanted their living room to be on the casual side and they both wanted wainscoting...

I had the wainscoting painted Dunn Edward's Swiss Coffee...
I tried so many different whites and they just looked dirty....
This white is a warm white...

We are still waiting for a few pieces to come in and art work and then I need to stage it for photos... but I thought you might want a little sneak peek!

Art and The Pink Pagoda

(Adrian Brisco)

I hope your Thanksgiving was nice...

I think it was the best tasting Thanksgiving dinner my daughter and I have made.

Everything was organic and every recipe was new to us...

We cooked for two days and I'm so glad my daughter helped me...

Other wise, I would probably still be cooking!

I've been shopping for art work for a client and found these images of art being the center of attention...all of them I found interesting and artistic..

I love these pictures and would love to have all of them for my own home...

(Adrian Brisco)

Pictures leaning against a side table in this image looks very arty!

I love these pictures of the sea

(House and Garden)

Black and white drawings surround the portrait in the middle.... This is a great way to fill a wall but have the one painting be the center of attention.
