Flea Market Finds

Its been a long two weeks and I've had a hard time thinking about what to write for a post....

So I thought Id share with you a few things I've been doing..

My daughter and I went to the Flea market and saw these beautiful hand dyed vintage fabrics from Africa.

We were told they were used as shawls.

I bought some and would love to do this with them...

love it with the white!

( Irving and Fine Instagram)

They would look great in a room with red and white...

They also had these black and white hand dyed fabrics.

I loved all the different patterns!

I wish I had bought a couple of these too, they were beautiful.

They would look great as pillows in my guest room...

I just might have to go back and get them!

I had to stage and up-date my parents home so we could sell it.

We had to replace the carpet, paint, new cabinets, all new appliances and new counter tops.

It was a lot of work!

She had the red sofa which I had to keep so I added the bold blue to
  help balance the red.

We sold it in two weeks...we have a 30 day escrow and now need to pack up the house!

 YIKES!

I'm not looking forward to that!

Thanks for visiting,
Julie

Fabric and Ageless Style

Hello Peeps!

 I'm back...

We just got home from a wonderful vacation ...

We rented a beach house up in Ventura and

we had so much fun...

I really didn't want to come home! My oldest son and his wife, my daughter and her husband and all the grand babies came. Were already planning a trip back next year. It was close enough, but far enough for it to feel like we were on a vacation.

But, were home now and back to the norm!

I thought I would share with you some up-dates on a project I'm working on. These are some of the fabrics I will be working with.

The fabric in the back will be used on the kitchen chairs and the first image above will be pillows and a valance.

Were using quartzite on the counter tops and tile on the back-splash. I haven't figured out what tile I'm using yet, but I'm working on it!

Cindy, over at Rough Luxe blog did a post on ageless style, Linda Wright.. She is a Texan living in Paris and owns a little boutique, Crimson.

She is gorgeous and has a wonderful style!

Check out Cindy's post here and find out more about ageless style.

Talk about ageless style...I found this makeup on Pinterest...its makeup for women over 40..I love it...my daughter noticed how pretty my skin looked and asked me if I had done something different...I told her it must be my new makeup, Boom!

I bought the color stick and the glimmer stick...the glimmer gives you a natural glow..My daughter who is in her 20's is going to buy it...
By the way...I don't get a kick back from this company...its just something a tried and liked!

If you have any tips for ageless beauty please pass them on..

Thanks for stopping bye!

Clients Wainscoting

I survived the O.R.C. and I'm so glad things are back to normal....

It was a great way to get my family room done....or at least for now!

I wanted to share an up-date on the project I'm working on...its been a lot of fun...
The colors and the fabrics are some of my favorites....
The Ralph Lauren in the middle is for the dining room chairs and a pillow for the sofa...
The blue fabric on the right and the stripes are also for pillows...
The red leaf pattern will go on two chairs in the living room and the blue fabric at the top left will be for an ottoman..

The white fabric with the leaf print will be for  drapery...

This and the one below are before shots...we took the wall down behind the chair.

This is what it looks like now...we have a new chandelier coming..its from Aiden Gray...

I can't wait to see it!

The entry way piece will be painted the same color as the walls and go into the living room.
I wanted it to look like it was a built in display area..

This is what the entry way looks like now

This is the living room and part of the entry way piece that will go against the wall....we took the doors off so my client could display items.

We added a window above this one...it lets in so much light and now balances with the other window.
New window...

Inspiration image

We are using this chair but stained in a dark walnut...almost black.

This will go on the chairs...the wood floors will start this week and the furniture has been ordered....were just hoping it will be done for Christmas..
Our fingers are crossed!

Patterns and textures

(Lilly Allen's Home)

I've always been attracted to rooms with a lot of layering and  patterns...

(Jeffrey Bilhuber)

Patterns and layers give it character and interest....

Mark Sikes has a style I love ...Green and blues are one of my faves right now...

Even a neutral simple room can have a lot of pattern and textures to make it look interesting..

(Michael S Smith)

Love this bedroom!

(Coquita Tumbler)

Don't forget to check back for the One Room linking Challenge  ....my chair pillows are done and my sofa should be done and delivered on  Saturday...cross your fingers!
Thanks again for checking in!

Client Up-Date

I've been working with a client who has become a friend that I truly respect....

When your working with clients in such a personal way......

you get to know them, their likes and dislikes...
its easy to bond and develop friendships...

I have been very blessed to work with some wonderful women.

This is just a sneak peak of what I have been up-to and I wanted to show you the pillows that were made for my clients sofa...

We had to put this project on hold for a short time and  we are now just finishing it up...

The before picture of the cabinet in her living room.

This is the after picture and of course it needs to be painted...
We will paint it white...glass will be put into the upper cabinet...

The before picture of the fireplace.

This also will be painted white...

We added wainscoting in the room and in the dinning room...

She decided to take my advise and  put in wood floors which we will start in  January.

If you want to see some of the before pictures go here

Thanks for stopping by...

Clients Living Room Rug...

Hello everyone....hope you had a wonderful weekend.....

we had a great weekend with friends....

and

I'm so excited about these rugs by Jaipur...

they go perfect with my clients living room....

they are made out of wool and they are gorgeous!

They are from the Highlanders collection

I like the sample on the top right the best....

the sample on the bottom is OK...but I'm not sure until I see it in my clients home....

which one do you like?

These rugs are beautiful too...they are from the Himalaya Collection

they are a natural jute mixed with a soft fabric weave...and they are soft to the touch....gave it the old foot touch!

Some patterns have color weaved through that are available in the same collection...
you can see a peek of the blue in the next image......

Do you notice that the one gold fabric and the rug have the same pattern....

I love when that happens....

when it all comes together....

We have started to order our furniture and the fabrics for the pillows....

cant wait to see everything together....

I got a little out of order with my posts....

I try to post every Monday and Friday...but this week I will post next Monday..

hope to see ya then...

Classic Black and white Decor.

I've had black and white on the brain lately.....
I've been buying black and white clothes, shoes and designing a living room for a client using some beautiful black and white fabric.....
I find it a classic color combo......
It looks wonderful in clothing and decor.

(Mimi Brown)

It doesn't go out of style...

Color looks great with black and white, or  simply go with an absent of color.........but I love when an  animal print is added.........like this belt!

(Daryl Carter)

(Briggs Edward Solomon)

AAAAHHHH

(Designer Jimmy Stanton)
(Lori May Interiors blog)

The art is going to be the focal point in the living room that I'm designing.....

Designed by Bob Brown

The art is the focal point in this room....
the eye isn't distracted by color but it simply gazes at the gallery wall...
it looks classic and sophisticated....
and well balanced...

A good designer has a natural eye for balance...

I'm not sure that can be taught...
I believe it is instinctual...

you either got it or you don't!

(Glamour Magazine)

(Tom Scheerer)

The details and the fabrics create the interest in your room...
I always suggest to my clients.......
buy great fabric for the pillows it will add interest and it will help your home look unique...
don't skimp on the details....
other wise your home looks like everybody
 else s..
it should  represent you and your family.

(Janet Rice)

Try to find accessories that add a little surprise...
it doesn't always have to be expensive...
I like going to flea markets or antique stores to find vintage lamps and those one of a kind items...

(Joy Tribout)

Ok... this could be dark brown and white, but it looks so great that I had to add it to the mix...

This is our fabric for the pillows...the leopard might be an ottoman...
or
I might suggest a black lacquer coffee table or a marble and gold table......

Which table idea do you think you would like?

I like the detail in the drapery that Toby Fairly added and the wallpaper in the wainscoting.

This is the drapery fabric on the right....

(Atmosphere interior design)

There will be a little mustard added to the room....but our walls will be dark and our furniture will be ivory....

This is the sofa we will be using but in an ivory Linen....the wood will be in an ebony.

and this is the chair we will be using....but also in ivory.

Like I said....classic!

(Toni Chi)
