Staging to sell our studio.

My husband and I had bought a ranch style home 11 years ago and turned into a photography studio....We decided to sell it and I had to stage it to look more like a home...

In one of the bedrooms I placed a screen behind this chair to add some interest.....I love this antique hand painted screen...its so pretty!

This is the kitchen...I know it looks like this bread board is floating in space...but its on a glass table that has columns.

I'm going to keeping the pine cabinet in the back for my office.

This room was an office and I had to make it look like it was a family room... I took my old blue sofa and made it back into a family room....that's a painting I had painted years ago!

This is the living room...I love this chair!

We kept my husbands portraits hanging on the wall.

We sold it  within 6 weeks with 4 offers....the couple who bought it wants to buy everything in it...including the accessories!

My hubby will be opening his new studio in Westlake Village which will be only 20 minutes from home.

Thanks for stopping by..

Proud Mama!

My hubby is a professional photographer and I wanted to share with you these pictures he took of my daughter and her husband.

I love this technique...

They look like pen and ink.

Love this picture of them... they are so cute together? They have been married for one year now.

This is our dog....
the kids named her sway and my husband named her Fe Fe....
she comes to both names...
believe it or not.
She isn't eating and we took her to the vet.
They ran some test and were hoping to find out whats going on soon.
Poor thing...
I'm just praying its not anything to serious.

It breaks my heart when I see animals in pain....

Have a nice weekend and I will post on Tuesday.

Thanks for stopping by....
Julie

Scarlett's Nursery

This is Scarlett....Our grand baby!
We think she is just the cats meow and yes ......
I'm so Corney, but if you have grandchildren then you know exactly how I feel.... and if you don't..... just wait!
 It's the bomb!

My Daughter in-law and son had these pictures taken of Scarlett by photographer Jennifer Daigle.

This is my favorite....isn't she cute?
This was my dresser when I was a child and than my daughters...
I actually painted it for my daughter when she was young and now it is Scarlett's.

My daughter in law, Jennifer Taylor is an interior designer and designed Scarlett's room....Isn't it cute?

The pig was my sons first stuffed animal...

Love this....Daddy's little girl!

Emily Followill Photography & Styling

(Meridy King Interiors)

Emily Followill is a photographer that I have admired for sometime now.
Emily has been a photographer for 18 years.

She has photographed many designs for some of the top designers and has had her images adorn the covers of many popular magazines.

Emily feels that every room tells a story about the home owner.
She tries to capture the essence and soul of the room she is photographing.

(Meridy King Interiors)

I have had my work photographed many times and know how important it is to style it for the camera.

What looks good for every day does not always look good in a photograph.

(Betty Burgess)

I asked her if she could give us some tips on styling for photographing our designs and our homes.

Here are some general rules, but Emily said, sometimes rules are made to be broken.

   1) Fewer fabulous  accessories are better than a lot of smaller ones.

2)Simple flower arrangement's, one type of flower in a vase makes a bigger statement than an arrangement of six different ones.

3) Focus on parts of the room, vignettes and details. They can be more powerful than the over all room shot.

(James Farmer)

Here is an example where Emily has focused on the little details in a room.

(C. Weaks interior)
She has an eye for balance in a room. She knows how to capture the perfect image.

Emily has a gift of conveying the message behind the vision of the photograph.
I hope you enjoyed Emily's work and some of her styling tips.

You can visit her web-site here.

 Remember, rules can be broken!

Thanks for visiting...

Emily Jenkins Followill Photography and Blog on Fire Award.

Emily Jenkins Followill is another photographer that we would like to introduce you to. She  has some fabulous work and an impressive client list.
( Designed by Nancy Warren)

She is extremely creative.  Look how she opened the door to create interest and it helped balance the image.. It made the picture!

So creative!

The tranquil feel of this room is captured perfectly in this photo.

We always like a mix of raw natural style and a more refined feel. Loving this china cabinet with old windows added to a newer piece. Emily's artist's eye captured this image perfectly.

This is just darn right fun. Raw walls with a contemporary painting... It feels a little 1800s meets 1970 and runs into 2012!   Very creative.

The bench is a perfect fit and shape mimicking the line of the staircase. The photo reveals so many details of the room. Even showing us the interesting painted wood pattern on the ceiling.

This is another example of a good photo,  capturing the decor and at the same time it is an art piece. Perfect balance to create interest.

The shadows from the outside light filtering in this bathroom add a creative tone to this image.

Emily captured the light coming in through the window. We would not mind cooking in this light filled kitchen.

This photo has a lovely shimmer from the golden chairs,  frames and drapes in the room.

We want to thank Tina from the Enchanted home blog for giving us the blog on fire award. Part of receiving this award is to name 5 other blogs that are on fire and 5 things about us.

We both love movies, Julie's all time favorite is" Sabrina", she loves romantic or funny  movies, but loves the" Italian Job".
Danni's favorites are" It's A Wonderful Life" and "Christmas Vacation" because  the whole family will get together every year to sit and watch them.

We are both home bodies and love being with family.
Our favorite fashion style is just  jeans and a casual Tee.

No this is not us, we wish, oh so thin.......
We are hoping we will finally have a good picture of ourselves soon.. I know we have not shown you a picture of us. We both are blinkers and never end up with any good photographs!
